Moon Slice : Blast Off!

Apparently a pizza satellite was found orbiting the moon in 1932.

We’ve not been able to verify this but the folks over at Moon Slice believe this is how their Pizza Space came into being and it’s a pretty cool spot.

It’s a friendly and functional space with a core focus on pizza. This is obvious as the large gas and wood fired oven sits prominently in the kitchen space, while the space cadets craft their pizzas and they seem to be having fun while they do it. That’s always a good sign of quality.

The simple menu offers some simply named pies like the M&M, the MS, Honey and others. They also have daily specials and a few pastas and salad to boot.

So how did these other worldly pizzas stack up? Good!

We went for the White Chic (AED 68) and the Diavola (AED 85) both offered a well made crust (with a few leopard spots) and some simple, thoughtful toppings. The White Chic features marinated chicken breast, jalapeno and red onion and has some extra herbs on it. The Diavola comes with your choice of either cooked or raw wagyu carpaccio along with some spicy meatballs and a lovely olive aioli which really brings it all together in a unique way. Both were great and kept us wanting to eat more until we blasted off into space.

Bottom Line:

Perhaps not quite as out of this world as our favorite pizzas in the city, Moon Slice still hits the spot and offers some brilliant pizzas with big flavors and friendly service. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re around Wasl.
