Tribecca

A Hotels, is definitely stepping up their game with 2 new offerings following hot on the heels of the Girders Garden, Tribeca and now Penthouse 25.

As soon as you walk into Tribeca, you immediately feel like a nice effort has gone into the place.  The fit out is cool and presents a good vibe. There are nice touches everywhere and the street art fits in without being too try hard.

The terrace area seems a little compact given how big the overall space is and will definitely get hot in summer, however I see it as a nice place for post work beverages and once the crowd picks up will probably be a great spot to be.

Onto the food, in a word: ok. Positioning itself as a quirky Manhattan style healthy / organic living destination, there are some nice elements to the menu that in fairness reads better than it presents on your table.

Everyone is doing Burrata these days, so went for the Bruscetta instead which was nice without being amazing, which probably sums up the overall feeling. The Pie, Pasta and the Cajun Style Chicken also fit into this category of competent and tasty but not brilliant.  The addition of lunchtime style salads on the dinner menu did seem slightly out of place.

Service was good if not a little nervous, while the  selection of drinks were also really quite nice including some organic numbers. If they develop some amazing bar bites this would be a hands down fantastic watering hole with great food but as a stand alone restaurant that happens to have a bar - at this stage it's not worth the return visit given the portion sizes and lack of accompanying wow factor in the menu
