Food trends change quicker in Dubai than a Nissan Patrol does lanes down SZR. Right now, seems that Mexican is the new Peruvian. Recently there’s been a bunch of new places to throw open their doors offering their take on the Cantina.
From the street to the suite our culinary curiosity has taken us across more than 25 countries and countless cities where we’ve dived head first into what’s on offer.
From hawker stands to Michelin starred restaurants and everything in between our passion for sharing the good life with those close to us sprouts conversation and opportunity.
For this we are eternally grateful.
Thanks for stopping by.

Over in the greens hiding innocuously inside the Onyx Building lies a little slice of Australiana. Named Pure South, this family inspired and run modern day corner store boasts Dubai’s largest range of 100% Australian goods. It’s like a tardis in here!
London import Coya brings South American flair to the Four Seasons in Dubai.
On the first stop by it was almost impossible to get a table. Turns out a lot of people are just as excited about the effect fire has on various cuts of meat as I am. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and left us wanting more, especially since the Texas Brisket Sandwich and BBQ Beef Short Rib were so good. Then…….
The raison d'etre for paying a visit as always is the food. In this case the alluring promise of some sensational Cuban Asian fusion. Clearly this is a concept with a lot of appeal and has worked well for Asia De Cuba around the world.
I explore a hidden away and Licensed British Curry House on the Palm just near Club Vista Mare.
Having been to the previous incarnation of this venue a few times and never had a bad meal, we thought it might be nice to check in and see what's up with the Bungalow.
Dubai needs more Axe Houses. Axe House is now Cocktail Kitchen's very grungy and very new replacement and it's a winner.
Welcome to your new local. Nestled in the car park of the double tree Hilton JBR sits the cozy, warm and veritable Scottish watering hole and Gastro Pub the Copper Dog. With down to earth staff and well crafted interiors this is a great spot for post work bevvies.
Omnia is a bit of an enigma as it seems to have a headline chef and a very attractive interior style that features a wonderful street art mural courtesy of Ruben Shanchez, yet it doesn't seem to have the same heaving crowd like the place next door. To get the low down we joined Chef Silevena Rowe for an evening of food talk, laughs and tasty treats from her recently unveiled Indian Menu.
This is not a glamorous restaurant that smacks of style, however it is obvious that there is a level of passion and love that goes into the dishes at this home-style eatery that shines through in every bite.
Tub Of Butter sits along Sheik Zayed Road in what I call the Safa Breakfast Strip, where you will find (in no particular order) Jones The Grocer, Bystro, Bertin, Lime Tree Cafe as well as Crumbs Elysee. That's a tough crowd. Despite the strange name, this is one spot that you may want to try.
The Great British Restaurant promises to bring the absolute best of British cuisine to the table along with a selection of classics with a unique twist - all with fantastic views of course. Upon arrival it is immediately apparent that a sincere effort has been put into the look and feel of the restaurant, it is dripping with style and offers a lush yet refined visual-scape that sets the tone perfectly for a lovely afternoon or evening. It is truly impressive.
The place seems to take a few cues from Mr Miyagi and is covered in graffiti from floor to ceiling and of course has a thousand brightly colored lanterns jammed in there too. The street art is nicely done thanks to the skills of local artist Ramy Elzaghawy. As a venue it is quite unique in so far as one whole side of it opens up directly to the sidewalk, so when the weather is with you, this will be a great night spot to people watch and munch on some Asian Street Food.
This is not you're average diner. If you've ever been to the states and eaten at a 'real' dinner you will immediately know that this high end interpretation does the genre justice and in spectacular style. Firebird Diner pays tribute to the iconic American eatery of the 1950s, with some clever menu choices that pay close attention to the details.
Since its 2015 inception Tom Aiken’s Pot’s Pans and Boards has been a solid performer, always reliably dishing up family friendly and reasonably priced Mediterraneanesque fare with a little British and French influence thrown in for a twist.
Toro +KO is the brainchild of High-profile chef duo Ken Oringer and Jamie Bissonnette both of whom have won James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef Northeast award which is kind of the Oscars of the culinary world. The original outlet started its life out in Boston and then moved onto New York, then Hong Kong and now after many years in the making - Dubai.
Hailing from Sandton City, South Africa this passionate and family orientated restaurant prides itself on quality ingredients and exceptional service. Originally set up in 1975, they have had a lot of time to perfect their recipes and approach and it shows at their newest venture at City Walk.
Authenticity is hard to come by these days but Bianca delivers this in spades at it's newly opened venue at the Beach, JBR. With a chef hailing from Naples this is proper Italian done the right way.
Ok so this is going to be one of those reviews that might not please everyone. Play has been around for a while now and has made some pretty bold claims about itself. One such gem is that Play provides an atmosphere of effortless indulgence and creates a sanctuary for everyone who approaches life in a more playful way. What that means exactly I’m unsure but I think it means come down and eat and drink at Play.
